The
Confederate Cantiñiere
The Women of the Confederacy,
Confederate Cantiñieres they say
Were women helping the soldiers,
The ones dressed Gray……
These women were not of usual stock,
Oh no, not at all.
And if a soldier described her,
You would think she was ten feet tall……
Their tasks not always simple ones,
Their commitment it was strong.
They struggled and fought for what was right,
That’s what kept the South going so long…
These women were like our Southland,
Filled with honor, courage and light
These women were unsung heroes,
For they too were there at the fight…..
